Braille Book Drive: Cincinnati, Ohio to Yola, Nigeria

Hello. My name is Daniel Barkley. I am Executive Director of Economics On The Move (EOTM) a non profit 501 c3 dedicated to teaching economics and financial literacy to youth in under served communities.

I am also an Assistant Professor of Economics at the American University of Nigeria (AUN). AUN is located in Yola a city of 150,000 people in North Eastern Nigeria. Yola is the capital city Adamawa State where 70% of the people live on less than $2.00 per day.

I need your help.

Clovernook Center for the Blind located in Cincinnati, Ohio is willing to make a donation of braille books to Nigeria. We are looking for support help pay for shipping some braille books to Nigeria? A donation to Economics On The Move is tax-deductible (EIN: 26-3301089).

Earlier this year, Economics On The Move (EOTM) sent three boxes of braille books from Clovernook to the Karatu Library Foundation (http://karatu.org/; see attached photos). Karatu Library Foundation is a NGO based in Adamawa State, Nigeria and is registered with the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission (Number: 47780).

Thank you for help.

Sincerely,

Daniel Barkley, Ph.D.

Unicyling: Yola, Nigeria Latest Craze

One of my hobbies is unicycling. I started when I was about 14. I now see how important my childhood was. I would like to give some of the kids in my neighborhood (Yola, Nigeria) the same experience.

But I would also like to empower them with an opportunity to earn money and work their way out of poverty through the application of economics and entrepreneurial skills by selling and/or making bicycles and unicycles.

There is a large untapped market for unicycles in Nigeria. Economics On The Move is partnering with the Yola-based Bicycles Riders Cooperative Society (Registration: AD14930) to teach youth how to ride unicycles for fun, entertainment, health and prosperity.

Although unicycles are rare in Nigeria, people, especially kids are fascinated by them.

I am open to anyway Economics On The Move can partner to bring more unicycles and bicycles to Yola, Nigeria.

Thanks for reading my proposal.

Sincerely,

Daniel Barkley, Ph.D.
